This month, we're turning the spotlight on Dominion Salem Harbor, a customer who invested in our SmartAsh hopper evacuation system. P.E. Bob Wright says, "The flexibility the SmartAsh system provides is great. We never have had indication on our ash levels like we do now."
Baghouse Operations: New Filter Bag Startup Procedures
The first 24 - 48 hours of a new fabric filter bag operation can be the most critical period for determining overall bag life expectancy. This is due to the vulnerability of the unprotected fabric to high velocity particulate embedding into the indices of the filter media. If this is allowed to occur, the trapped dust accelerates the blinding process and greatly shortens bag life as well as increasing average drag/restriction coefficient.
The key to preventing this premature blinding is to follow some simple rules during startup, including the application of a protective pre-coat material.

What is "Sustainability"?
Sustainable practices involve managing resources and ecosystems in such a way that current needs are met but the options and needs of future generations are not compromised. The idea focuses on indefinite co-existence - and it does extend to business practices.
At Neundorfer, we're proud to help our customers with "green" initiatives to save energy (and money) and reduce emissions. And that's just the start of our efforts to use sustainable business practices to help us discover new business opportunities, inspire innovation and create a healthier environment both inside and outside our company.
We'll be sharing our progress on sustainability initiatives as well as providing some sustainability "food for thought" in our newsletters. We welcome your thoughts and reactions as well as information about your own sustainability practices.
Definition of a Carbon Footprint (from Wikipedia):
"Carbon footprint is a measure of the amount of carbon dioxide or CO2 emitted through the combustion of fossil fuels; in the case of an organization, business or enterprise, as part of their everyday operations; in the case of an individual or household, as part of their daily lives; in the case of a product, over the course of its lifecycle."
